The Art Department's goal is to teach a wide variety of art skills. Skill development is individualized and classes formatted into short lessons to help retain knowledge. Lessons build on previous knowledge, the goal being to teach students to work independently and to foster creativity. Through these acquired skills, students learn to express themselves visually. Students are made aware of all areas in which they are being assessed and grade themeselves on projects using rubrics. Lastly, students exchange ideas in class critiques at the conclusion of each assignment.
