Resource/Study Skills

The resource program is designed to support high school stud nets experiencing difficulty in the social and academic areas of their education. The primary goals is to provide students with the skills and strategies that they need to become independent learners. Resource instructors provide individual and small group instruction in academic areas, teaching a variety of strategies that students can utilize in their general education classes. Study skills are also taught that can be useful in all areas of a student's education

TASSEL Program

The TASSEL Program at Portland High School serves the needs of disabled adolescents through their 21st year. Their individualized programs include the services of physical and occupational therapists, as well as the support of speech and language personnel. The educational staff consults regularly with BRS and DMR as well as other support services in order to provide the best in programming for today, and the best transition planning for the future. Current goals include Employment/Post Secondary Education, Independent Living Skills, Community Participation, Pre-Vocational Skills, and functional academics in areas of reading, writing and math.
