Happy Friday BIS families,
We had an eventful week here at Brownstone!
Earlier this week, students worked in advisory groups with a focus on school safety. I had the opportunity to visit several classrooms, and students were extremely thoughtful and reflective about what we can all do to make Brownstone a safer, more positive place. We want our students to take ownership of the kind of community we are building together.
Last night, I had the chance to see the many talents of our students at the Talent Show. Singing, dancing, DJing, comedy, karate, and a wide variety of musical performances were on full display. I was incredibly impressed by the confidence it took for students to perform in front of over 200 audience members, a new Talent Show record!
Today, many of our students were recognized during our second trimester awards ceremony. These awards highlight qualities such as kindness, leadership, perseverance, collaboration, and critical thinking—the same qualities that help our students grow not only as learners, but as people. Congratulations to all of our award recipients!

School Consolidation Update (from Dr. Britton)
Thank you to everyone who joined us this past Monday for our community forum on the consolidation plan.
For those who were unable to attend, Portland Middle School Principal Mike Searson reviewed plans to relocate sixth grade to the middle school, and I discussed the financial implications for the town and local taxpayers.
You can view a recording of the presentation here:

You can also access the presentation slides here:

This week, we also launched a website with extensive information about the proposal. I encourage you to visit:

Our next community forum will be held on Tuesday, March 31 at 6:00 p.m. in the Portland Middle School auditorium. This session will focus on the transition plan and will include time for questions and answers.
I hope you all enjoy a restful weekend.
Go Huskies!
